I was sent to Horseshoe Mountain Academy after I ran away from my home which in my mind was pretty toxic at the time. When I first arrived I could not believe that my parents had set away perfect me. I refused to talk to my parents for the first month and a half, and in that time, through journaling and therapy. I really was working hard to better myself so that I could be in a place where I was ready and could handle family therapy. I ended up being very successful in this Program, and I can honestly say that this Program worked miracles for me. Progress definitely will not happen overnight, but eventually, as we always say in the the house “The process always works” or “follow the process”. Not everyone progresses at the same time, but everyone will get there eventually., whether it be a perfect program with out a single lost day or staying for a full year. One of the most important skills I learned was conflict resolution and learning how to be tolerant of where others are at. These were abilities that can be used in all areas of your life, as well as being calm. “Who am I” is the question that I had to answer at graduation, and what I was asked 5 and a half months previously, and one of the things that is so important for growth is to find out who you are and what you want to be known for.
